An employer is going to care more that you know how to solve a complex problem quickly by using the available tools, than they will that you can solve it by hand - so take the opportunity to do your homework using tools like Matlab and Python wherever allowed. No professor is going to expect you to solve a highly dimensional imaginary vector or matrix on a test, while also limiting you to a TI-36X (I doubt they would ever expect you to solve it even if you were allowed an Inspire). My classmates love to rag on me for throwing so many things into Matlab, but if it's faster than doing it by hand, why not? I mean, shit, just this past week, I was in a study session where everyone was struggling through some complex multivariable differential equations, and I just solved it in half the time with three lines of Matlab code (which the professor accepts for homework). True, but at that point, I think I would just make Matlab, Python, or similar do the work. Send the moderators a message and we'll unblock it as soon as possible. If you find a post violating one of these rules please report it so the mods can review it ASAP. Posts related to education that are not specifically EE should be taken to /r/EngineeringStudents. Posts about building electrical (residential or industrial) as well as electrical grid systems should be taken to /r/electricians. r/gadgets is a better place for non-engineering problems. No tech support questions on consumer products, unless it is truly an engineering problem. Generic "Please solve this problem" posts will be removed.ĥ.No Consumer Product Tech Support Questions If you'd like help with an assignment, feel free to post the question along with your progress so far and specific questions that you have. However, if we see off topic, an influx and/or multiple posts (more than one a day) from a single user, they will be removed at the moderators discretion.
